Overview
From bitumen, gravel, limestone, and gemstones, mining is a big industry in Alberta. The Tools of the Trade Mining Education Kit is a great way to dig deeper into a topic that is shaping the Alberta landscape above and below ground!
Use the 12 items in the kit to supplement units or inquiries that explore mining, reclamation, ecosystems, careers, and technology. The kit features real samples of natural resources that we mine in Alberta, a 3D printed geology model, a scale model of an oil sands haul truck, and more!
In addition to hands-on items, the kit includes two excellent teaching materials: Caring for the Land and Minerals in Alberta: Where to Find Them.
Inside Education has four kits in circulation. Schools can request to borrow the kit for a maximum of two weeks at no-cost (including shipping). Shipping information will be provided upon confirmation of shipping schedule.
