Want to see the big picture when it comes to wildlife management in Alberta? Curious about how biodiversity is managed in the context of resource industries, land use, and climate change?
Join Inside Education on the Biodiversity in the Boreal Summer Institute, a 5-day, no-cost teacher professional development program, where we will hear from the researchers, conservation groups, Indigenous communities, industry stakeholders, and government representatives that deal with the day-to-day decision-making when it comes to Alberta’s biodiversity.
Wednesday, July 2nd - Sunday, July 6th
Beginning in Edmonton, we will travel via Lac La Biche to Fort McMurray and focus on the innovations and technologies used to monitor and manage the unique landscapes and at-risk species in the boreal region. We will also get a better understanding of the resource industries that operate in this area and how they are mitigating their impacts on forest and wetland ecosystems.
- This program is open to all K-12 teachers, B.Ed students, and school administrators.
- Like all Inside Education programs, this teacher PD will be free of cost including a travel subsidy to get to Edmonton. Full scholarships include all meals, accommodation, and transportation during the program.
